►What are the Effects of Deforestation in Singapore?
There are not much major effects in Singapore yet. However, in one of our neighbouring countries, Indonesia, elephants are roaming around in villages in search for food. Villagers are also attacking the elephants. In April 2006, a baby elephant was trapped and injured. Six other elephants were also fatally poisoned. As the trees are being cut down, the elephant's natural habitat also shrinks and result to them entering villages. The villagers put traps to prevent elephants from destroying their crops.
